July 26, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I’d like to share my latest sample with you, designed for a 30th Birthday Party Event. This is a dark chocolate 4×6 folio invitation embellished with an iridescent burnt orange ribbon. It includes the invitation, response card, response evelope (not pictured) and an insert with additional event information for guests. Border is crimson red and the second layer is handmade, textured, burnt orange paper. The text is flat printing with a gold Fleur de Lis graphic and two golden crystals on either side.

Printing solution solved….somewhat

July 26, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I meet with the owner of a local printing company yesterday. It looks as if they are going to be able to help me with some of my printing needs. However, they no longer offer letterpress and thermography, which are the two printing options I am looking to provide. The majority of their printing is done on a high quality digital printer, which will be great for flat printing and invitations with photos. The owner was nice enough to give me a tour of the printing press room. He showed me how all of the mass production printers work, including his old letterpress machine. I had no idea how complicated printing letterpress is (no wonder it’s so expensive). Basically the text for the invitation is mounted letter by letter onto a die and then the machine presses the die against the paper with extreme force, thus the name “Letterpress”. I will most likely use him for all my flat printing; he said he would give me a deal if I continue to use him for the long run. No matter what business you are in, it is essential to build and foster relationships with people that you are doing business with. It not only helps you to cut costs but it leads to other business opportunities and much needed resources.
