This evening I went to a launch party for a friend’s, and fellow Tuskegee alum’s, new business. Don’Angelo started a company called SOMA Recruitment Solutions, and tonight was the coming out party and official launch. The event took place in Harlem at a trendy and chic shoe boutique called Head Over Heels (270 St. Nicholas Ave New York, NY). This location was perfect for a launch party. The boutique provided a fabulous backdrop. There was open space, a seating area, h’orderves, drinks, and the sexy shoes didn’t hurt the ambiance either. When planning your next event, think out of the box about the venue. Some options are museums, showrooms, botanical gardens (indoor or out), and in this case a high-end shoe boutique.

My Lovely Cousin & Her Gorgeous Shower Favors
August 16, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Today I went to my cousin Shelly’s bridal shower. Her best friend Trina hosted the shower, which was suppose to be a surprise but of course the brides always figure it out. I have yet to go to a “Surprise” bridal shower where the bride is actually suprised. It didn’t help that both of my aunts parked their cars in front of the house.
In addition to a beautifully planned shower, the host’s mother hand-crafted the favors. You know that I love anything handmade so I was all over it. It was a mini rolling pin with Shelly’s favorite recipe on it, which is pop tarts of all things! Needless to say, the favors are so adorable and personalized, and represented something personal about the bride.

Luxury Invitations: What Sets the House of Papier Apart?
August 14, 2008 · Leave a Comment
I’ve had many inquires about the high price of my silk box invitations, both from clients and in everyday conversations. House of Papier silk box invitations are on the high end of the invitation scale and are designed for the person with expensive taste who is looking for couture quality for their event. I have long said that invitations (no mater what kind) set the tone for the affair. Your guest can visualize the type of theme you will be having based on the invitation. It is the vision of what’s to come. The House of Papier’s mission is to provide a chic, luxurious alternative to common place invitations. I have had requests from some potential clients to alter the design of my invitations to reduce the price. However, the House of Papier is a brand, and that brand speaks of elegance, exclusivity, high-quality, couture, and luxurious. Thus, all of these elements are reflected in the price.

What a great Wedding Magazine
August 8, 2008 · Leave a Comment
While researching the latest wedding trends, I came across a wedding magazine called Weddingstar, and fell in love with it. What’s great about it is that they offer so many ideas for brides and event planners. Best of all, everything that is featured can be purchased either directly from the magazine, or from the website.
In the latest issue they have over 2,475 wedding accessories. On pages 108-109 they have a beautiful silver and black table setting that has given me inspiration for a new invitation sample. If you don’t have time to make it the bookstore you can always browse the magazine page by page at their website.Enjoy planning your wedding!
