“….Fashion is everywhere.” ~Coco Chanel

“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening. Fashion is everywhere.” ~ Coco Chanel
The other night I was watching the life story of Coco Chanel, the pioneering designer who introduced us to Chanel No. 5 and the “Little black dress”. At one point in the movie she gets frustrated with her confidant and says the quote above. It resonated with me because fashion indeed is not only about clothing and models and runways, but about creativity and the ability to visualize an idea and bring it to fruition. To that point, at Fashion Week I was inspired by postcards I picked up from the iGoogle sponsor booth. Their beautiful designs and patterns gave me ideas for a new collection of invitations, so be looking for them soon. Here are the post cards:

New York Fashion Week Escapades
September 16, 2008 · 2 Comments
I spent two days last week at New York’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Bryant Park and had a fabulous time. The House of Papier’s slogan is, “Designer Invitations for Your Fashionable Life” so it is only fitting that I spent time among the world’s couture fashionistas. In fact, much of my designs are inspired not just by fashion, but fabrics, patterns and the embellishments found on the latest trends. Needless to say, I was beyond inspired! The Bryant Park fountain served as the centerpiece under the tent and was adorned all around with designer shoes inspired by the ruby red shoes that Dorothy wore in the Wizard of Oz. In addition to networking and visiting the sponsor booths, I attended the Max Azria Show, Vivienne Tam Show, and the Carlos Miele Show. All the shows were Uber-fabulous, but by far my favorite was Carlos Miele. His designs were chic, feminine and beautiful. I drew an abundance of inspiration for invitation designs from my fashion week experience and I can’t wait until February to attend again. Here are some pictures: <\font>
