The House of Papier now offers Letterpress

October 20, 2008 · 4 Comments

I am proud to announce that the House of Papier now offers letterpress printing. Over the last couple of months I have been getting a large number of requests for letterpress invitations. To meet the demand we are finally able to provide this elegant option to your silk box invitation orders. So what exactly is letterpress printing?

Letterpress is the original form of printing, founded by Gutenberg in 1440, using text and images on a plate that are pressed on to paper during the printing process. The “pressing” between the two plates causes the text an design on invitations to be slightly raised.

The amount of set up to create letterpress printing is significant, which is why the cost for this type of printing is higher and why more and more printers do not offer it. However, letterpress adds chic sophistication and elegance to any invitation.
